Welcome Beryl!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Please help me welcome Beryl, who joined the CP family this week. Beryl was a very much loved and doted upon cairn princess in her home. Her family had a baby. This poor little baby was a sickly one, with many medical needs. Yet Beryl was still loved and doted upon. Another baby blessing arrived. With much devastation, this baby too was very sick. The family continued to search for answers and a diagnosis to their first child's illness. The diagnosis were many over the years. As their second child grew, they saw so many similar medical issues, and their hearts broke. Their children have multiple medical teams. Both children take many medications a day. Their oldest son is so ill he is tube fed.

Then a few weeks ago, the final diagnosis came- a very rare genetic disease for their first born beloved boy. Their second son is currently being tested for the same rare genetic disease.

Knowing now that there were not going to be any cures, and that the medical care required for their boys was only going to increase, they made the decision to let Beryl go, as she had increasingly been left home alone, and she was not getting the loving attention they knew she so deserved. They knew in their hearts she deserved much more than they could give, more attention, more activity, more love. They contacted Col. Potter feeling that we could find another family who would dote on Beryl as they had, and who would love her as much as they did.

Col. Potter said yes, and Beryl is now on her way to finding a family who will treat her like a princess. Beryl is heading to her foster home today.

Welcome Beryl!! Thank you Col. Potter, for once again being there for a needy little one.
