A Twist in the Road - Welcome Maddox!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

The name Maddox means little fortunate one. When Maddox's human family grew, they had less time for him and felt he deserved better and sought a rescue for Maddox. Impatience set in while waiting on the rescue approval, and the family took another road. Suddenly this sweet, mellow cairn found himself in a shelter. The shelter happened to post his picture and story on their website. Ever diligent, one of our own rescue searchers spotted his listing and submitted it for review per normal procedure. Days had gone by since Maddox was taken to the shelter, but he was still safe.

Shelter personnel, when contacted by Intakes, were concerned about his well being as he was not getting the quality diet needed to keep his allergies at bay. In the best interest of Maddox, the shelter asked Col. Potter to help. Soon Maddox was packing his bags to come to the safety of Col. Potter. The twist in the road brought Maddox back from the verge of disaster. Even though Maddox had experienced ten days of shelter life, he remained a mellow fellow and sweet as can be. Right now Maddox is enjoying a safe, clean & warm hotel stay at a vet clinic, mandatory after being in a shelter environment. Sociable, very sweet and friendly are some of the comments already heard about our new CP boy, Maddox.

Maddox is a handsome wheaten with distinctive ears, 6 1/2 years old, obedience trained, housebroken, neutered, and ADORABLE, even if he is in need of a little weight loss program. A huge thank you to Mary S.-R. for spotting him on her search duty, Denise G. for posting him, and Mary Ellen L. for making the long trip to bring Maddox to safety. Please welcome Maddox!!

Col. Potter to the Rescue!

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

We all know that times are tough ... We're all feeling the pinch of the economy ... We've all seen our investments and retirement plans shrink or even disappear ... This is the story of a man and his Cairn that were beaten down and almost ready to give up ... until CP came to the rescue in record setting time.

Once upon a time in the genteel south, a couple bought an adorable little male Cairn puppy to add to their family. They lived a comfortable life in a nice home in the suburbs. they loved and doted on their Cairn. But in time, the couple grew apart and ended up divorcing. The Cairn stayed with his dad in their nice home. Then the economic crisis creeped into their genteel lives. The man lost his job, used all his savings and lost his home and all his belongings. He had nowhere to go and was forced to move in with friends in a community that doesn't allow dogs. He loved his dog but knew the dog deserved better than he was now able to give him. He tried taking his dog to every shelter around the area, but each of them said because of his age, almost 10 years old, that he would not be adoptable and would be put to sleep, so why didn't he just have the dog put to sleep himself. He just couldn't bear that thought. His dog is happy, active, healthy and deserves to live out the rest of his life with love and care. He was desperate ... he placed an ad on craigslist and actually found a family that wanted his dog. He took the dog there ... it was in a very bad neighborhood with Pit Bulls next door ... but the family seemed very genuine and like they really wanted his dog. Two days later he received a phone call from the family that the son was allergic to the dog and for him to come pick him up. Now the man was beyond desperate and someone told him about Col. Potter and to try us. This man was literally at his wit's end and broke down crying over the phone telling his story and how much he loved and cared for his dog and wanted to find somewhere safe for him to go. He had to do something with him quickly as the dog was currently living in an empty apartment of a friend of his by himself with someone just going over to feed him and let him outside.

But the road was not smooth yet. There were problems with the Owner Release Form being submitted electronically. So, I sent him a printable copy to be filled out and faxed back to me. Then we needed someone that could pick up this boy as soon as possible. It was less than 12 hours from the time I received the faxed Owner Release Form until the time he was officially a CP kid, thanks to Susan C. dropping everything to pick him up and get him to safety.

Please help me Welcome Charleigh O'Doyle to the CP family! Now just where did I come up with that name you ask ... well, as it was explained to me, when you put two Georgia Girls together to name a dog, this is what happens. Susan C. did the surrender and Bobbie B. will be Charleigh O'Doyle's foster mom, so I asked them to come up with a name for him. I am told that Charleigh is a German male name meaning strong and courageous and Doyle is an Irish name meaning dark stranger. Susan just had to add the O' for a little flair. Susan said Charleigh O'Doyle is a strong and courageous boy for what he has recently been through who was a stranger when she met him last night and as you will see from his picture, he is dark. Well, that's their story and they tell me they're sticking to it!

I know Charleigh O'Doyle's father has breathed a huge sigh of relief knowing that his boy has a great future ahead of him and many more stories to tell ...

NO SURGERY TODAY FOR MAGIC...

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

Magic continues to do well, but his albumin level has dropped again and the surgeon wants to wait until it comes back up before doing such a long and involved surgery.

Other than that, Magic continues to do well and amaze all that come in contact with him. I was joking with the surgeon yesterday that if they weren't careful, they would have to tie Magic down as he would be up and walking around on his three legs even with the broken pelvis. The surgeon kind of laughed and said he didn't think that would be happening until after surgery. WELL GUESS WHAT! Today, while the vet tech was cleaning his kennel and had him moved to one side, she looked up to see Magic walking around and trying to get out! Can't say I didn't warn them!

We'll check his liver values again tomorrow, and if that albumin goes back up, we may do surgery tomorrow. It's a day by day check at this point as we don't want to do anything to set Magic back any further after he's come so far. So keep those thoughts and prayers coming for Magic who has shown the vet staff a few of his own magical tricks already!

Magic had a VERY GOOD day today!

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

The surgeon is very pleased with the obvious improvement in Magic today and can see a difference in him since the amputation of his leg yesterday. He looks much brighter, peppier, animated and appears to feel better. Magic is eating well and has had no vomiting today!

Today was also a special day for Magic as he had visitors! He has fast become a vet staff favorite and is a very sweet, friendly and loving little boy even when he was in so much pain and so heavily medicated. I'm told that he gives sweet little kisses and is always wagging his tail to draw someone's attention. But, today Magic had not one, not two, but three special visitors. Our own Sharon M. stopped in for a visit and some lovin' with Magic, also the local rescue lady who contacted CP to help Magic stopped in to visit and his true rescue angel who found Magic after the accident and called for help stopped in to visit him. This is certainly one popular little guy and one who really enjoyed ALL the attention today!!

Hopefully, if Magic continues to do well and his blood panel looks good tomorrow, he will have the second surgery to repair his pelvis. I won't know for sure until tomorrow morning, but it looks promising. Please keep Magic in your thoughts and prayers that he continues to show his true Cairn spirit and the "Magic" continues.

Sharon was nice enough to share a picture she took of Magic today. Just look at that precious little face. I just know he has a few more tricks up his sleeve ... or should I say paw!

"Tails" of The Puppies at 5 Weeks!

Champ

Alpine

Alpine, Cambridge and Champ

Five weeks have just flown by!! These babies are all over the place now. They are so comical and you can see little personalities continuing to emerge. Little Cambridge is a feisty one and really gets mad when big brother Champ puts her in a head lock!! She likes to be vocal and tries to boss the others around. Champ is a big lover boy. When he gets tired, he comes over by your feet and cries to be held. He's a big snuggly bear. Alpine is just a sweetheart. She can play like a cairn with a toy ruffing it up and shaking it around, but she has a gentle sweetness that you can see in her cute little face.

They are all over 2 pounds now, with Champ being almost 2 1/2 pounds. They are making the switch to puppy food pretty easily, althoughthey sure would like it if Mama would just hold still for a couple of minutes so they could get a quick snack!! Especially Champ. He loves his Mama. For some reason, the pictures of Alpine did not turn out as well as I had hoped, so I'm a little disappointed that you can't see how cute she really is.

They are all very friendly and come running to us when they hear our voices. They are especially funny outside and kind of get the crazies romping from one person to the next and then wrestling with each other. I introduced my Maggie to them and it was just hilarious to watch them try to go after her underside looking for utters! None there and she did a little jump back and was like "No way- I'm not your mama!" She did a lot of play bowing to them and lots of tail wagging. She would like to clean their ears, but she can't figure out exactly how to do that with such small ones. (Rusty - our Golden - had huge floppy ears that she always kept clean for us). The puppies like to paw at her face and nip at her. She thinks they are lot of fun too.

Sebring's eye is continuing to improve with the meds that the vet prescribed. My sister was over today and was amazed at how much it had improved and really liked her new look since being bathed and groomed. She would like her for herself, except that she already has a housefull!! She is such a sweet little thing. It will be hard to part with her too! I wish I could slow time down some days!

Enjoy the pictures!

*MAGIC SURGERY UPDATE!*

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

Magic came through the amputation surgery with flying colors!!! He is awake, alert and resting comfortably following surgery.

The surgeon reported to me that we absolutely made the correct decision to amputate rather than try and repair Magic's right rear leg. During the amputation he was able to determine that absolutely none of the arteries in Magic's leg were still capable of carrying any blood. The only blood the leg was receiving was through the cappilleries. Magic's body was working hard to sustain and heal that leg when there was absolutely no chance of that ever happening. The hope is now all that healing energy will be transferred to other parts of his body. The longer that damaged leg remained, the greater the chance of infection or gangrene setting in. He's at a much better place in his overall recovery process now due to the amputation.

Magic will be monitored closely tomorrow and his liver function values will once again be tested. If all looks good, the hope is that the repair of the pelvis can take place on Friday. That surgery will take much longer than the amputation today and will be more involved, so it is important that Magic be as healthy and strong as possible.

Please feel free to share Magic's story with your friends, family, coworkers and other groups you may be a member of along with the link to his Guardian Angel listing. Every dollar will help to insure Magic continues to receive all of the medical care and follow-ups he will need now and throughout his recuperation and rehabiliation.

Please click here for the link to Magic's Guardian Angel page or here to our sponsor a cairn page.

Our Magic has made it past the first surgical hurdle and is living up to his name, but I know it's because of all the Cairn and Guardian Angels looking down on him and your unwavering thoughts, prayers and support. Please don't stop now ... let's keep it going for Magic!

Magic is Going in for Surgery!

Written by CP'S VP of Intakes

OK everyone, our boy Magic needs all of your thoughts, positive energy and prayers now!

I just spoke with the surgeon and Magic is at a point that the leg that needs to be amputated is probably hampering healing to the rest of his body. His ALT levels are down nicely, but his Albumin has now once again dropped. His vomiting is greatly reduced and he ate some solid food again yesterday. It's the crossroad of taking the chance of putting him under anesthesia to amputate the leg so all of his healing powers can go to the parts of his body that really need it, or waiting longer to see if the liver can work even harder at healing itself while his body is also trying to the heal the leg that can't be saved. We've decided to go ahead with the surgery to amputate his right leg today. The surgery will only take about 30 minutes and the surgeon will call me when it's done and I will let you know.

PLEASE keep Magic in your thoughts and prayers today ...

Tuesday's Update on OUR Injured Boy - He's a CP Kid!

Written by CP's VP of Intakes

It is my honor and privilege to introduce you to a new member of the CP family ... a little boy who has withstood more than any little Cairn ever should, a little boy who has demonstrated a Cairn spirit and will to survive, a little boy who has needed A LOT of Cairn "Magic" to make it to this point ... and so what better name for this little Cairn boy but ... Magic!

He officially became a CP kid on Sunday with the receipt of his release from the local rescue group along with a lot of thanks and gratitude from them for all that CP was able and willing to do for him.

His ALT levels have dropped substantially, while his Albumin level has increased -- both a sign that his liver is healing itself from the trauma it suffered. Right now he is fighting some gastric upset which was expected, due to the medications and pain killers he is taking. His vomiting has lessened today and the surgeon's hope is that by tomorrow it will be to a point that it is safe to perform the first surgery on Magic without danger of him choking on his own vomit while under anesthesia.

Magic will have to undergo two separate surgeries on two separate days. The damage to his right rear leg is so severe and has caused such extensive nerve damage that he has absolutely no feeling or movement in that leg. The first surgery will be to amputate Magic's right rear leg. Assuming that surgery is successful and there are no negative side effects to Magic, then hopefully he will undergo the second surgery two days later to repair the pelvis which is fractured in 4 places by plating and pinning it.

As you can imagine, these surgeries will not be easy on Magic and he will once again have to draw upon his Cairn spirit, his will to survive and that Cairn "Magic" to get through these surgeries. The medical procedures for Magic, along with his care leading up to the surgeries and following them are quite expensive. Please visit our Guardian Angel page where you will find Magic, along with a listing of all our other Guardian Angel kids. It provides details of how you can help support Magic with his medical needs. If you would like to help Magic, please click the following link: I'll Be Magic's Guardian Angel!

How many of you know the story of how Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network came to be? How many of you know there was a young male Cairn named Col. Potter? How many of you know that Col. Potter ran out into the street right in front of his family's home and was struck by a car? Col. Potter wasn't as lucky as Magic ... he died before they could even get him to the vet. Somehow I think Col. Potter is looking down on Magic and helping him achieve a different fate than he had.

Tomorrow is going to be a very important day for Magic and in addition to Col. Potter watching over him, Magic can definitely use your prayers, positive thoughts and energy that he will be stabilized enough for the amputation surgery to be performed and for it to be successful. I won't know until the surgeon calls me tomorrow if it's a go for surgery, but I will post as soon as I do know. Please keep Magic foremost in your thoughts and visit his Guardian Angels listing to support his medical expenses. I've posted his photos previously, but I've attached one of them as a reminder of his sweet face saying THANK YOU for giving him a chance ...

Memorial Day

Written by Dan from Dog Reflections

On Memorial Day we take time to remember those servicemen and women who have given their lives in order to secure and maintain America’s freedom. In every Military conflict in our nation’s history, you will also find stories of canine heroes. Dogs have played vital roles as mascots, guards, trackers and even mine detectors - saving thousands of human lives.

Rags was a Cairn Terrier mix who served as the mascot of the 1st Infantry Division during World War I. He “joined up” in 1917 in France and held his title until his death in 1931. Rags was recruited by Private James Donovan, who found himself AWOL after overstaying his leave in Montremere. Just as 2 military policemen approached him, he tripped over the small stray. Donovan thought quickly and said he was part of a search party, sent out to find the Division’s Mascot. Thus Donovan was out of hot water and Rags had a name and a job! Though he was a small dog, Rags relayed messages from the front lines. His greatest moment of heroism came during the Meuse-Argonne Campaign in 1918, when he ran a vital message through falling bombs. Although the terrier was gassed and partially blinded, he survived. Donovan however, was not so lucky. In 1920 Rags was adopted by the family of Major Raymond W. Hardenberg. He is buried at Aspen Hill Memorial Park & Animal Sanctuary in Maryland.

Update on our Injured Cairn Boy!

Written by CP VP of Intakes

We have some good news ... and some not so good news today on our injured boy.

First the good news, his ALT dropped more than 700 points since Thursday. YIPPEE! He is starting to eat solid food and he seems much more alert and aware. All very good signs!

The bad news is that now his Albumin is a little low. Not nearly as bad as his ALT result was on Thursday, but still low enough that the surgeon isn't comfortable performing surgery just yet. Also, I haven't heard from the local rescue group today to release him to CP yet. I've called and left a message for her, so I'm hoping that she's just busy with rescuing other dogs or some holiday weekend plans.

So, the bottom line is to KEEP THE PRAYERS, POSITIVE THOUGHTS AND ENERGY COMING FOR THIS LITTLE GUY!!! He's fighting and I know he can feel our love and support, but let's not let the inner tube that is supporting him start leaking or run out of inflation. Just as soon as I know he is an official CP kid, I will let everyone know ...

Woes of Puppy Love

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Think back to those awkward early teenage years. Remember your first crush, perhaps the boy (or girl) next door, the secret meetings by the locker between classes? Or maybe you secretly held hands under your notebook while riding the school bus. Whoever that first love was, you really didn't want your parents to know for fear of being told you're too young! It's only puppy love. Of course you ignored your parents (if they knew at all) - soon you and that special someone were going "steady". Perhaps you exchanged class rings, or wore something special belonging to the "ONE". It was a sign to others around that you were taken or spoken for! Everyone understood the meaning.

In the dog world the same ritual takes place only dogs can't exchange rings and trinkets with each other. Nature provided dogs with a more efficient and handy method to let others know they are going "steady". They mark (if you know what I mean). Marking is a sign of possession, affection and it's mine, mine, mine! The scent lets the animal world know this object is very special. Kelci had a neighbor dog (John Dog to protect his identity) that was enamored with her. They would meet by the fence and share sweet nothings. John Dog would mark Kelci through the fence so everyone would know she was his girl. Well, Kelci's mom found out and wasn't very happy about the situation, especially the special cologne Kelci was wearing. If Kelci was a human girl, she would have been sent to boarding school but being a dog, Kelci was taken to the shelter and put up for adoption. Problem was this shelter is a very bad place for sweet little girls. This shelter still gasses animals and has the highest gassing rate in the state. There is no screening process for adoptions. If Kelci wasn't adopted in the short time allotted, she would be gassed.

An angel from another rescue visiting the shelter spotted Kelci and knew immediately this was no place for her. She put out an SOS far and wide for help. This rescue angel also worked magic to get the shelter to release Kelci as quickly as possible bypassing the adoption period. You see if a dog is not adopted by a given date, there is a very narrow time frame to get a dog to rescue before it's gas chamber time. It was 30 hours from the time we received the SOS until Kelci was safe in the arms of Col. Potter. A huge thanks to rescue angel, Leah L. and Col. Potter's Kitty K. for making Kelci's trip to safety possible. Kelci, which is Irish for brave, is a gray brindle, one year old, overwhelmed but sweet girl. Please welcome Kelci to Col. Potter where the best is yet to come!

Welcome Jojo to CP!!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Please welcome our newest young lad, Jojo!!

Jojo is a mere 14 months old and comes from a family who could not financially afford his care and did not have the resources nor the time to train him, so he has lots of Cairn energy! Thankfully, his family turned to rescue to help out when they realized they couldn't keep him.

Jojo is reported as being very loveable. He loves to chase balls, loves belly and ear rubs and of course, more chasing of balls.

MANY, MANY thanks to Mary C. for doing a spur of the moment pick up (during rush hour traffic, I might add!) to bring Jojo into the safe arms of CP!!! She did a great job!! Thank you.

Champ has some teeth that are starting to erupt so I am sure the girls will be soon to follow. We did some video taping today too and if anything turned out (my daughter took over that role) I'll post it so everyone can see them outside playing.

Update on our Special Cairn Boy

Written by CP VP of Intakes

The good news is that he's still alive and resting comfortably with ample pain killers ... This in itself is a positive sign and I know that all of your prayers and positive thoughts and energy have helped him to this point. Unfortunately, we need to keep up the effort and not let down as he is most definitely not out of the woods yet ...

Today I had the opportunity to consult with the surgeon who will be doing the surgery on this little boy. I really like this vet who was very patient with me answering all of my questions and giving me honest answers of what he thought was best for this dog. He took quite a bit of time out of his busy day to speak with me several times during the course of today and I feel very confident in his abilities and in his diagnosis and prognosis for this Cairn. The surgeon believes, from the type and extent of injuries, that he was struck by the front wheel of the car in his front shoulder (where the leg meets the pelvis), fracturing the pelvis on the left side of his body in four places. From the impact, he was spun around and the car's rear wheel then ran over his right rear leg and shattered it.

They ran a blood panel on him today to check all functions and levels in preparation for surgery and that's where we have hit another snag. His ALT levels, those that measure liver function, were off the chart high. The surgeon is hopeful that this test level is the result of the trauma to his body and bruising to his liver coupled with the antibiotics and pain killers they have him on trying to stabilize him and keep him alive. However, this level has to start dropping before surgery will even be considered. He won't be retested until Saturday and will just be kept comfortable and monitored.

Col. Potter will not be able to officially bring this boy into our program until Saturday when the legal stray hold is up on him. No one has come looking for him yet and even if someone does, it is very doubtful that they would be willing or able to afford the surgery that is contemplated for him and would have to make the decision to surrender him to rescue. We are proceeding with every intention of him becoming a CP kid as of this Saturday, but we can't make anything official or do anything more for him until that time.

Right now the thing he needs most is your continued prayers and all the positive thoughts and energy you can muster for him to stay strong, get the ALT results to drop by Saturday and most importantly, keep fighting to stay alive!

Following is a photo of him that the local rescue group took. This photo of him was taken shortly after he was picked up from the accident scene by the rescue group on the way to the vet. My thanks to Maureen for helping me with some time management by sharing this photo for me . Also, my thanks to the many people who have personally contacted me wanting to donate to his care. As soon as he is officially a CP kid, we will get a Guardian Angel Program set-up for him and I will provide full details on how you can help donate to his medical expenses.

Let's hope he can show his true Cairn colors and attitude and continue to fight for his life ... with your help ...

BELIEVE IT OR NOT, CP WELCOMES RIPLEY!!

Written by CP VP of Intakes

Leroy "Robert" Ripley was a cartoonist, explorer, reporter, adventurer, illustrator, collector and seeker of the odd and unusual. Millions of people worldwide have visited his exhibits and museums to view his collection of oddities and share his adventures.

Most of the dogs used for breeding in Clark County, Wisconsin end up at the Thorp Dog Auction when they have outlived their usefulness, don't produce or just aren't wanted anymore. They don't generally release dogs to rescue if there is money to be made off their backs yet, even if just $5 at auction. So, to have a miller release a dog to rescue is an oddity in this area and a rare occurrence indeed. This little Cairn was the last Cairn this miller had left in his breeding stock. Apparently he wasn't saleable and we can only guess that it might have been due to his skin infections. Believe It Or Not, this probably saved him from spending the rest of his life as a breeder and the reason he found his way into the loving arms of CP!

Ripley is already making the most of his freedom ... he is sweet, friendly and happily wags his tail at those he recognizes. The vet estimates Ripley to be between 1 and 2 years old.

Ripley also has a special Guardian Angel watching over him. His name was donated by Carmen and John Steele in memory of their wonderful Cairn, Ripley. My thanks also to the rescue angels who alerted me to Ripley and helped to get him to safety and freedom!

The world awaits Ripley to explore and have a lifetime of adventure and I know there is the perfect forever family just waiting out there to share his adventures with him ... WELCOME to CP Ripley ... Believe It Or Not!

PRAYERS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS REQUESTED FOR A SPECIAL CAIRN

Written by CP VP of Intakes

It happened in an instant ... he ran across the street and was hit by a car ... the car never stopped. He has no collar, no identification, no microchip ... no one has come looking for him. Luckily for him, someone saw him get hit and called the local animal warden who called a local rescue group who came and picked up the little Cairn and immediately took him to the vet to be treated for shock and pain.

The xrays show his pelvis is broken in 4 places, his left rear leg broken in another 4 places and he will need surgery as quickly as possible if he is to survive. The decision will have to be made to either try and repair his pelvis and leg ... or amputate his leg and repair his pelvis. He's estimated to be 3-4 years old ...

Col. Potter is working hard to get him released to us and somehow shorten the stray hold and allow him to have the surgery he so desperately needs.

He also desperately needs our prayers, positive thoughts and energy that he can hang on and we can get him the surgery he needs. PLEASE, PLEASE keep this little guy in your prayers and thoughts today, tonight and tomorrow. Let's all hope he has the Cairn will and strength to survive and CP can find the financial assistance to pull off another miracle!

I'll post updates as soon as they are available.

Zachary joins the Col. Potter family!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Col. Potter worked some magic again: rescuing a true cairn in need. This week, a new cairn boy joined CP. His name is Zachary, a 7 year old wheaten boy. Poor Zachary found himself in need of a new home when his owner's husband passed from cancer. Mom couldn't manage all of her charges, take on a new full time job to support herself, and grieve for her far too soon loss, so she knew the best thing to do was find homes for her kids.

She placed ads,and luckily for Zachary, one of CPs volunteers with eyes always watching for cairns in need alerted the Rescue Team. Sadly, another of her cairns, a female, was placed 'Free To A Good Home' before we became aware of the situation. We sure hope the home was a very loving one! We made the promise to Zachary's owner, the one we make with every Owner Surrender, that we will take good care of him, and find a loving adoptive home for him. Thanks to all of your efforts, I can say that proudly, and know that we all work very hard to ensure the best for our cairns! Thanks to Carrie Y. who picked up this little one!! Welcome Zachary!!

Alina gets a Second Chance!

Written by a CP Intakes Coordinator

Miss Alina was found as a stray with her pups who were all adopted out from the shelter.

Alina tested positive for Heartworm, and surprisingly was adopted out to a family who was happy to treat her for heartworm. They were happy until they visited their vet and found out what that meant in financial terms, and time of limited activity.

They returned her to the shelter, it was more than they bargained for when adopting her. Sadly, this meant that they could not adopt her out again, nor did they have the funding to treat her heartworm. Luckily, their rescue coordinator wanted her to at least have a chance, and reached out to Col. Potter to see if we could help. If not, it was the end of the road for her. Col. Potter said "YES!"

We have amazing foster homes, who know what Heartworm treatment entails, and know that while it isn't quick or easy, when its over the results are worth the time, money and work! We have amazing volunteers who work to raise every penny possible so that we can say yes to kids with Heartworm. Add to that every other volunteer that helps to round out the group, and make every cairn get whatever he needs and WE WORK MAGIC! Thanks to Dee P. who picked up Alina, and got her settled in for her weeklong spa treatment! Dee said that she is very sweet, very friendly, and loves to give kisses.Hugs to you Alina!
